Question: What can i do ?? i need a miracle?

Posted: 30 Sep 2014 05:16 PM PDT

what can i do ?? i need a miracle?

I'm 21 and I'm graduating college in December I recently got a job in my field and I'm expecting my first daughter in January. Everything has fallen into place except one thing ..I cannot pass my drivers test to save my life and I can't afford a car . I've taken my test so many times since 2013,and don't know why I can't pass. My dad spends lots of time prepping me but yet I fail to no avail . I wanna at least get my license and then I know a car will follow . I hate the thought of having my baby on a dann bus. Everyone says maybe its not your time to drive ..but I say why not if I'm preparing what is a right time..what can I do? Any suggestions ?

Question: I'm moving to victorville is it easy to commute?

Posted: 29 Sep 2014 09:24 PM PDT

Victorville, CA

CALTRANS shutdowns the 15 freeway when there are large wildfires or snowstorms in the Cajon Pass. If you are commuting to Los Angeles, the commute is about 2 hours. There is road construction currently through the Cajon Pass.

Public Transit is limited. The Victor Valley Transit Authority BV Link service connects Barstow, Victorville, San Bernardino, & Fontana; however, it operates Monday thru Friday during peak hour commute times only.

Question: Jensen power 760.4 getting really hot?

Posted: 30 Sep 2014 06:30 AM PDT

Hi so what to expect from amplifiers is this for every watt of music power you hear it takes 3 times that to power it. that power goes somewhere in most cases it is generating heat. so 500 watt music is produced from 1500 watts of power. so 1000 watts of heat is what appears on the case of the amplifier and eventually it will get sod hot it burns out it's own power devices if it does not get enough cooling of it's case. so it will go BANG at some stage and you would need a new one this is simple basic physics of how amplifiers work. so now you are profoundly deaf also was it really worth it. not to mention the near 100 amps you have drawn out of the battery and electrical system.

Question: Can you replace a car sound system monoblock with any other monoblock?

Posted: 30 Sep 2014 03:14 AM PDT

As in the stock amplifier? You say better assuming more wattage? Probably not. You will need to run a larger power and ground wire. If you can find the remote and signal you can tap those. Plus the connections will more than likely not plug in. It's still really easy though. Look at youtube for installation.

Also keep in mind if this is factory equipment they are probably pretty well matched. So you will more than likely blow the factory sub. You also need to know the ohm rating. How big are you going? Determines wire gauge needed as well as additional upgrades. Your alternator can only put out so much amperage...
Short answer... probably not a great idea, do some research.

I am the Safety Officer in my ground school class and supposed to give a 3-5 minute update on new safety things to be aware of in the plane. Do any of you guys have any ideas for me to go over with the class. All I need is a couple subjects because this is the first time doing it. After this I'll have a sense of direction of what to talk about.

Question: Is it normal for a helicopter to circle this long?

Posted: 29 Sep 2014 10:23 PM PDT

It sounds like they are either looking for a criminal, or lost hiker, or a hiker in distress.

Question: What ratings are needed to fly a turbine aircraft such as a king air or caravan?

Posted: 29 Sep 2014 09:50 PM PDT

I assume you are in USA...? - FAA regulations...?
All you need is a single engine rating (Caravan) or multiengine (King Air) -
As you say, up to the limit of 12,500 - Beyond that weight, type rating required -

I would recommend you to study these airplanes in detail before flying them -
Handling of a turboprop engine is different -
Get the proper manuals, and a qualified pilot (of instructor) to give you a checkout -
Whether you have a "complex" signoff or not does not matter...!
Be "specific" with such sophisticated airplanes...

Retired airline pilot

Question: Can fuel unbalance cause an airplane to crash?

Posted: 29 Sep 2014 09:28 PM PDT

.
Airliners are tested with fuel tanks full on one wing and empty on the other wing...
But these are test pilots handling the flights -
You are NOT -

Flight manuals of each type show a recommended lateral limit -
Pan American 747 operations manual limited lateral unbalance to 5,000 lbs -
Was not a limitation, but a recommendation...!
Surprisingly, they did not consider if it was for inboard/outboard wing tanks -

Swept wing outboard full tanks also bring the CG aft -
Many such airplanes have a fuel burn sequence to maintain the CG within limits -

And you are probably familiar with forward and aft CG envelope -
You probably saw that 747F video which crashed at takeoff - Bagram (Kabul) -
A vehicle carried was not secured and shifted the CG aft of limits -

Question: Is it easier to become an airline pilot or a private jet(or corporate jet) pilot?

Posted: 29 Sep 2014 08:23 PM PDT

.
Typical "type rating" training for Gulfstream Jet is similar to Boeing 737 BBJ training -
The "size" of a corporate jet (if a small Learjet) does not matter -

Experience is what counts -
Flight hours (such as Civil Air Patrol) do not mean much -

You can become a corporate pilot coming from an airline -
When I was first officer with an airline, I used to fly part time with a corporate jet -

Some corporate pilots "upgrade from within" -
They can start as first officer King Air and later become captain Falcon Jet -
It is always a question of pilot experience -

Question: Who is at fault if a pickup truck rams into the back of my trailer at a stop light?

Posted: 29 Sep 2014 08:20 PM PDT

It would have been the fault of the pickup truck driver if you had followed the law that says you must stop after any accident if any vehicle is damaged.

However, because you broke the law by driving away, and didn't bother to stop, it doesn't matter who was at fault. You will have to pay however much money the person comes calling later asking you to pay, because if the police get involved, you could lose your license or go to jail, for not stopping, which is much more serious than being at fault for an accident.

In turn, this is detrimental to consumers as it reduces choice in the market. Developers must also incur considerable cost to learn how to develop for a particular platform. In a fragmented market, it is often difficult to predict which platforms will become dominant and have a larger install base. If developers choose a platform that is phased out later or becomes a niche platform, they will have wasted valuable time and money.

Cars & Transportation: Rail: “Question: Why is metro rail either elevated or underground?” plus 2 more

Cars & Transportation: Rail: “Question: Why is metro rail either elevated or underground?” plus 2 more

Question: Why is metro rail either elevated or underground?

Posted: 28 Sep 2014 09:18 PM PDT

It isn't: many "Metro" systems have tracks that are at ground level, just like main line railways. The term derives from the Metropolitan Railway in London, the first underground railway in the world, opened in London UK in 1863. It was followed in 1871 by the confusingly-named Metropolitan District Railway - also in London - and then by the Paris, France. system in 1900. This was built by the Compagnie du Chemin de Fer Metropolitain de Paris, and always known to Parisiens as "Le Metro". Since then, the term "Metro" has been applied to many similar urban railway systems with closely-spaced stations and a frequent service of trains. Indeed, twenty years ago, many of the inner-London services of the national rail network were for a time designated as "Metro" services. However, other terms are used, such as "Underground" or "Tube" for the services run by London Transport; "Subway" in New York USA, or "U-Bahn" in Berlin, Germany, for example. All of these systems have lines that run on the surface as well as in tunnels or elevated on viaducts.

Since such systems were built to solve public transport problems in already built-up cities, it was both cheaper and convenient to build them underground in the built up areas, or elevated over the streets on viaducts, such as the famous "El" in Chicago - another interchangeable term. Out of town, it is cheaper to lay them on the surface, just like ordinary main line railways

Question: How long would it take to go from Virginia to Iowa by wagon train in the 1800's?

Posted: 28 Sep 2014 01:20 PM PDT

Walking pace over uneven terrain and fording rivers is a little slower
8-20 miles a day is a more reasonable estimate for 1800's travel cross country.About 2 miles an hour. Detours around hills and getting to crossing places on the streams and rivers. Rest periods for the horses or mules. Rest days for the horses.and to make repairs. Back then most would not travel on the Lords Day. Breakdowns along the wheel . Stops for things like wheel repair. A minimum of three months. Rain days would mean mud and most would have to stop depending on terrain and need to wait for it to dry a bit.
3-4 months travel time.

http://www.fhwa.dot.gov/infrastructure/b...

If they had to pay a toll to use a bridge or Ferry. Back then the price of few dollars was a months wages.

Part of this would be crossing the Appalachian Mountains which even today have limited roads . Much forested lands and swampy areas.

Question: Are the soviet steam locomotives still in use?

Question: 79 ford f250 460 wants to start but dies?

Posted: 29 Sep 2014 04:36 PM PDT

Your starting resistor is open. That means there is a big resistor that goes to the coil, and during starting, the resistor is bypassed. When the car is turned to "run" the resistor delivers less power to the coil because that's the way it works. The resistor essentially allows a huge spark to be delivered during cranking, then goes to normal as the engine runs. If the resistor is open, this is exactly what happens.

No. Why don't you just outright buy it. I know condiment prices have gone up recently but is it that bad that you have to rent it.

Have you looked at what the penalty is if you go over 36000 miles. It could be anywhere from a quarter to a dollar per mile. There's also other fees that you have to pay besides the down payment. There's also tax.

I don't know about you but I drive over 12000 miles per year. I think it's closer to 15k. That's 9000 over the limit and at 25¢ per mile, that's $2250 in penalty.

Question: Whats the best way to get the most power from 1 dvc subwoofer safely with the amp i have?

Posted: 29 Sep 2014 04:33 AM PDT

With a single DVC 2 ohm sub, the best power solution would be to series the voice coils (4 ohm final impedance) and bridge the amp channels (2 end terminals - left positive - right negative).

The amp claims to output 400 watts RMS into 4 ohms with the channels bridged, but that is probably somewhat inflated. The amp isn't CEA 2006 certified. But it should power the sub OK, just not to it's maximum performance.

Sub 12" Powerbass SVC 350W

At times Amp keeps going into protect mode, i turn off head unit and amp turns normal. Settings are bass -6 woofer +12. On amp Volume is about a quarter, bridged, LPF is around half, no bass boost and level is about a quarter. Hits hard but at times just putting the volume 25/46 it cuts out the amp. Any ideas? Thank you

Question: Does you guitar or your guitar amp have some special meaning?

Posted: 29 Sep 2014 03:16 AM PDT

I have special attachments to a few pieces of my gear. I have a vintage Stratocaster that was played by a guitarist in Tammy Wynette's back up band. I have a vintage Fender Dual Showman Reverb that was specially modified for Eddie Bush by Bill Nance (of Bilco Amps) many years ago. I have a first year of issue Fender Custom Shop Dick Dale Signature Stratocaster that Dick signed after a concert.

Probably the one I am most attached to is a parts-caster. The late Eddie Bertrand (of the Belairs and later of Eddie & the Showmen) put together. It was signed by 3 surf bands with special inscriptions to Eddie. His estate graciously let me buy it after his death. I don't play it a lot because I do not want to wear off the signatures. But every time I see it I remember Eddie.

Later,
Norm
