Question: Why do corporate turboprops hold their value significantly better than corporate jets? Posted: 22 Nov 2016 12:04 AM PST At a guess because there are lots of other uses for "corporate" turbo-props. They can be refitted as small airliners, air ambulance and charter aircraft where their lower operating costs make them practical. So demand for good used ones is high. The aircraft are really no different from a regular commercial turbo-prop. Take the comfy chairs and bar out, and fit a dozen regular seats and you have a commuter airliner. A corporate jet is really only ever useful as a corporate jet. They are too expensive to operate for any other purpose. They are only practical for longer distance flights, but then you have to compete with larger and more efficient jets. So if you want to make a profit with a small aircraft, you buy the more versatile turboprop, that's cheaper to operate and more in demand by potential customers. This is a small local airline that fly between the islands in NZ. Note they have 10 turboprops. |

Question: What is the best Pilot academies in Australia? Posted: 21 Nov 2016 09:10 AM PST 1) Since "academies" is plural, the question should be "What ARE the best pilot academies in Australia?" 2) There is no "best pilot academy". All flight schools teach to the same national standard and any of them can provide the training you need. However, there are some that may be better suited for you from a personal standpoint in terms of location, cost, equipment and facilities, atmosphere, training style and job placement. 3) Although this article is written for training in Canada, all the same principles regarding choosing the best school for you still applies. Please read it, follow the advice, and then do your research. Before deciding, you should visit at least several schools in person. http://www.tc.gc.ca/eng/civilaviation/st... Here is another worth reading: http://www.aviationschoolsonline.com/faq... 4) One thing to keep in mind is that training near your current home might be the most cost-effective when you consider the added costs of room, board and transportation you will have to pay if you have to move to another city for training. |
