Question: Can you pay inside for gas *after* you pumped it? Posted: 16 Nov 2016 10:17 AM PST Most places will not hold a card because a simple scam is knowing that there is no money on the card, pumping the gas, then gosh, I have no way to pay! You should always prepay. Go in, say I need twenty dollars on pump 3. Your card will be swiped, which verifies that there are funds, but it won't yet be charged. If you only pump fifteen dollars worth, your card will be charged fifteen dollars when you hang up the pump. That's how most places work now. Some places will charge the card the twenty dollars then give you five dollars cash because they do not yet have the technology to open the card then charge it after you pump. Either way, the charge is processed as credit and it only takes the amount that you say or actually use. Never swipe your card at the pump to start! For one, it is easier for thieves to put skimmers on the pumps that steal your card information. Also, depending on the bank that issues your card, there may be a charge of up to 150 dollars immediately taken off the card then the difference will be refunded after two or three days. The gas station has no control over that charge. In this case, it is processed as debit so the money is gone instantly and you have to wait to get it back. I see you don't like my answer. I typed it before you gave your update. Knowing your vehicle's fuel tank capacity, reading the gauge, determining the gallons you need, and multiplying by the price per gallon is simple math. An easier, less precise method is to remember for example it takes fifty dollars when the tank is empty and twelve dollars when you have three quarters of a tank and just need to top it off. |

Question: New York State Permit Test Questions? Posted: 15 Nov 2016 06:27 PM PST I m taking my driver s permit test next week. I ve been studying the driver s manual and I ve been taking the practice exam on the DMV website for the past few months. I have 2 questions; 1. What should I expect on the test? Like what chapters of the driver s manual appear more? 2. What happens after the test? If I pass, how long does it take to get the actual permit? Thanks in advance! |
