| Question: Can wind boat sail without an engine and is it leaner than a power boat?!? Posted: 02 Oct 2016 08:55 AM PDT I guess it depends upon the size of the boat and where you are sailing it. Of course without a motor you use no fuel. One time we went sailing on Lake Michigan with a 14 ft O-Day Javelin in July when the lake forecast was calm to 2 ft. Unfortunately, the 5.5 hp outboard I had would not start (didn't know that spark plug wires were switched), so I did not take it along. We were well outside the breakwater when the wind died down to nothing and the water surface was a smooth as glass. The only thing that would fill the sail is if we rocked the boat. We paddled back to the breakwater and someone towed us back to the boat launching ramp. When I was at Marquette University in the sailing club, they would use 13 ft sailing dingies (I think called Flying Juniors) to get out to larger sailboats moored at buoys, and would sail everything out and back with no engine power at all. |

| Question: Did we find an abandoned mexican boat in grand isle louisiana? Posted: 01 Oct 2016 10:33 PM PDT I was walking along the beach, and saw a rowboat washed ashore with strange items onboard. In the boat was an iron sea chest decorated with ornate designs in sea shell mosaics depicting neptune, dolphins, and sea scenes on it. There was also a paddle on the boat with ornate designs of dolphins on it surrounding three triangles made of shiny glued on foil. Inside the chest was a marble box containing a greyish white powder with a silver ring with the words, "true love waits". and inscriptions on the marble box read Karen Cardinal 1997 - 2016 |
