Question: Will using a 4ohm reciever blow my 2 ohm stock speakers? Posted: 04 Oct 2016 04:13 PM PDT The danger is the other way around: using lower impedance speakers with a head unit designed for 4 ohms can cause the head unit's amplifier to overheat. However, usually you only see 2-ohm speakers in vehicles equipped with Bose systems. Does your car have a stock Bose system? If so, have you bypassed the factory amplifier? If there's a Bose amplifier in the vehicle, the speaker impedance doesn't matter to the head unit. You may need to buy an integration adapter to properly install the new deck, though. |
