Question: What are some entry-level maritime jobs? Posted: 12 Jul 2014 11:25 AM PDT What are some entry-level maritime jobs? I'm currently a college student and would like to start an entry-level maritime job next summer, preferably something actually on the water. I have a boater education certificate (not that it's worth much in the real world), and a little sailing experience. Other than that I don't have a whole lot of employment experience. Any recommendations? |
Question: What is it Called When Two Vessels Meet at Sea? Posted: 12 Jul 2014 06:07 AM PDT Hello The first word that springs to mind is Rondezvous. When setting it up (Rondezvous at Grid DERS) If in sight you could be invited to "Come along side" Andy C |
Question: Galley, or mess hall, on a 17th century ship? Posted: 12 Jul 2014 01:15 AM PDT Lots of places to find the information that you are asking about. If you can why not make a visit to a historic vessel, there are quite a few of them about. Try reading books such as the Hornblower series as an example. Sailors worked, fought dined and slept on the gun decks. Space was at a premium. Live animals were kept low down in the bilges. Pets were not actively encouraged on board. They took up space and ate and drank precious food and water. |
