Question: Will a faulty catalitic converter cause an engine to misfire and even stop it? Posted: 16 Jul 2014 04:51 PM PDT Will a faulty catalitic converter cause an engine to misfire and even stop it? Stopped at a stop lite the engine will miss one time or shut down completely. I put it N, turn the key and it starts right up. Other day, driving between 25 and 30 mph it shut down 3 time in a half hour period. Started right up each time. Last couple of days it runs ok. 5.9 L engine. 1990 chevy 4X4 166,000 miles. Just bought it. |
Question: Is the engine cradle part of the front crossmember? Posted: 16 Jul 2014 04:24 PM PDT The engine cradle is part of the cross member. It has holes punched in it that the motor mounts bolt to.However, the motor mount, sway bar links, and control arms are not part of the crossmember. These parts just bolt to the crossmember. The motor mounts, and most of the suspension parts mount to the crossmember. The crossmember bolts to the bottom of the car.It is also sometimes referred to as a kmember |
Question: Do my brakes need bleeding? Posted: 16 Jul 2014 04:20 PM PDT About two months ago, I bought a 6 year old toyota yaris. I checked the front pads and rotors and they seem to be fine. The pads have plenty of life to them at least 70%. They seem to be the cheaper metallic pads. The rear drum brakes also seem to be fine. The car has about 124k on it, about 75k miles. When I press on the brake pedal, I have to press it half way for it to stop decently, and if I need to stop quickly, I almost have to push it all the way to the floor, and it wont lock up unless I'm travelling at least 15-20km/h Could it just need bleeding? I tried to bleed the front right caliper but the bolt was stuck on, and I will need to work on it later. The fluid level is at the max |
Question: Why won't my car accelerate when i push hard on gas pedal? Posted: 16 Jul 2014 04:13 PM PDT fuel problems? it sounds like it may be running too rich and choking itself out? I'd take it in for an emissions test to make sure (don't get an official smog test if you're in california, just an unmarked emissions test). That's what I'm thinking, either the injectors or clogged, a sensor may be off (like your O2 sensor) or something is going fishy with your fuel injection system, it mean it DOES have 227,000 miles on it. My old Datsun 280zx from 1983 has only 150,000 on it and I baby it a lot. |
Question: Can seafoam fix my problem? Posted: 16 Jul 2014 04:05 PM PDT I recently purchased a 2004 kawasaki ninja ex250, and the motorcycle will not start unless the choke is engaged, and it dies instantly when given any throttle. I am thinking that it might be gunked up carbs, and have a bottle of seafoam. I hear that you can just pour some seafoam into the gas tank and it will work... but will that work while the bike is in idle since I can't actually use any throttle or make it go? What should I do? How do I use the seafoam to clean the carbs without taking them out |
Question: Flashing check engine light for 2002 Maxima? Posted: 16 Jul 2014 03:56 PM PDT $125 for diagnosis, plus somewhere between $25 and $4000 for the repairs. Which is another way of saying that we can't tell a blessed thing about what's wrong with this car until you have the codes pulled. |
