Question: Lost title before registering motorcycle?

A month ago i got a loan for a motorcycle in a private transaction.

Found a gentlemen selling a bike on a classified, bought the bike, everything went great. He gave me the title and I gave him the cash.

I turned the title over to my bank to put a lien on it. Unfortunately, they sent it back stating they were unable to register it on my behalf and I needed to personally do it. I got the letter on a saturday and thought ok, i'll do this on Tuesday (my first day off) well unfortunately, my wife grabbed the title in the envelope and tossed it with a stack of other trash mail and I ended up losing the title.

I am now unable to contact the owner because he used a random google phone number to prevent spam/his phone number from being picked up by marketers. Is there anything I can do at this point? I have paid for the bike, have a signed bill of sale and a bank transaction, but im unable to contact the registered owner for a new title and i'm unable to register it to myself without the title.

Question: Motorcycle electronics died on me while driving?

What temperature was the battery when it stopped, if it was extraordinarily hot, then that is a fairly good indication that the regulator/rectifier has failed (not that strange on a Honda of that age).

If the battery was correctly charged (as well as filled) before installation and is now discharged then the cause was probably the charging system (the alternator being the likely culprit).

But a bike that is running well and gradually becomes rougher as it warms up could be a sign that the coils are failing.

There are ways of testing the quality of all of the electronic components – a multimeter and continuity tester are useful tools here.

Question: Motorcycle crash percentages?

It makes no difference. In nearly every situation it is the rider who comes off worse – therefore it is the rider's responsibility to do everything possible to avoid it, because they will benefit from it.

If you show your mother the statistics showing that the cause of accidents is beyond her child's control and that their safety lies in the hands of complete strangers, she is unlikely to be comforted. Perhaps certificates of advanced riding courses would be more effective.

Question: Could i trade a 1978 Kawasaki z1000 ltd for a decently sporty, lightweight yamaha...?

It is about 560 pounds wet, you seem to dislike the weight and would something lighter.
How much lighter? How much speed do you need? How much money are you willing to pay? What style would you like? Where it the world you are?

Light would be a 55mph 173 pound Janus Halcyon 50, $5,300 FOB Goshen, Indiana
