Question: My situation seems hopeless, please help me? Posted: 12 Jul 2014 08:39 AM PDT Pretty sure it's illegal to not have auto insurance, but I could be wrong if it's under your father's name. Here's the thing, though. If you could prove that there was a problem with the brakes, I'm pretty sure you won't be charged or anything. That is, unless you cut your brake lines. |
Question: What is the average coverage of an auto insurance ..policy? Posted: 12 Jul 2014 08:27 AM PDT it depends on a lot of things ! what kind of car, how many miles you drive, weather you want full coverage or no fault insurance, some places want to know weather it,s a sports car or not, sports cars the insurance is higher then a ordinary car ! |
Question: Do I have to be there? Posted: 12 Jul 2014 08:21 AM PDT You need to get the title from your dad with the proper signatures and paperwork from your dad. Then you can go by yourself and get it transferred to your name. The exact requirements vary from state to state so it would be a good idea to find the official website where it tells exactly what is required in your state. This will prevent you from leaving empty handed and having to go back and ask your dad for additional stuff. Some states require notarized signatures and some do not. Some states require additional paper work and some only require the title. Most states require that you pay sales tax, but there is usually a gift form that can avoid this. Even though you and your father have an understanding that you bought and paid for the car it legally belongs to your Dad. He is now giving it to you as a gift. So you should not have to pay sales tax. |
