Question: Pilot and Aerospace Engineering related question.? Posted: 14 Sep 2015 08:39 PM PDT Sure, you can study to be an aero engineer and work at that, and learn to fly for fun. The engineering knowledge can make you a better pilot and the flying experience will make you a better engineer. If you're asking about flying jobs where an engineering degree is necessary or useful, there aren't many. Some flight test positions require an engineering background, but most of those go to ex military pilots, which is the subject of a whole other discussion. |

Posted: 14 Sep 2015 06:48 PM PDT Airbus building a new factory isn't the end of the world for Boeing, they both have several factories around the world. Why would they build there? Proximity to suppliers, reasonable climate and a base of skilled workers would make it a logical place to set up a new plane factory. As opposed to the middle of nowhere? Yes Airbus are selling a lot of planes, but the latest Boeing models seem to be pretty successful (777 and 787) I also suspect that a lot of airlines deliberately run a mixed fleet, to keep the competition keen between the 2 main suppliers. It's not in their interest for one of the companies to shut down and leave a virtual monopoly. |
