Question: Do I need an adapter to change from a regular car FM stereo to a DABstereo? Posted: 14 Sep 2015 05:29 AM PDT Hi I'd really appreciate help with changing from an Auto Sound 51486 car stereo to a Sony CDX-DAB500U car stereo. I'm not sure whether I need an adapter or even whether I need to change my aerial as I know DAB uses a different frequency. Also is it an easy swap as I am also considering installing it myself as reviews say it is fairly easy, i really don't want to pay for installation if I don't need to. Thanks any advice is appreciated :) |

Question: What is the perfect subwoofer supposed to sound like? Posted: 13 Sep 2015 07:35 PM PDT I ve been through about 17 subwoofers in 3 years trying to find a product I can enjoy, I ve owned many brands XXX Lanzar VVME Pioneer Soundstream Alpine I ve also learned all the basics about tuning and calibrating things to work together. I know how to build a proper box, good wiring/grounds, gain setting, crossovers and phase adjustments. I ve noticed that in general, the cheaper products give a more upfront, punchy bass that hits you hard and fast but they don t carry the lows below 40-50hz very well. On the other hand the "quality" name brand products seem to give a much deeper bass, with a softer, more mellow tone. They don t hit hard and fast like the cheap products but give you a back massage below 40hz. Like I said earlier I build proper boxes and always find myself going with small sealed boxes with a subsonic filter at like 40hz for the "better" subwoofers in an attempt to get some punch and stop the overwhelming, back massaging low bass. I want to know, if I went out and bought what everyone else thinks is a wonderful sounding subwoofer like an Infinity or JL or something, Would it vibrate a lot and be smooth sounding or would it be hard hitting with a lot of punch? |
