Question: Is it possible to revive these planes? Posted: 03 Sep 2015 05:24 AM PDT I can't believe that there is no flyable one for some of the classic and historical planes. Convair planes, 747-100SP and some of the very historical one. And as far as I know that is no flyable 737-100 and passenger version 747-100 any more. I think they have to preserve at least one or two for each type but sadly they don't So if they take something like this from the Mohave Desert tomb, can it fly again if you put new engines and parts on it and polish it? Or is it just completely rusted, molded and rotten inside that it is too dangerous even if you put new parts on them and it can fall apart in the sky? |
Posted: 03 Sep 2015 04:18 AM PDT It happens often to car drivers. But if a captain on a plane like Fly-By-Wire equipped Boeing 777/787 or A330/320 flips the stick/yoke rapidly when he sneezes or his heart stops or something, will it crash right away or will the control system ignore the insane input? What about hydraulic planes like the 767, 737 or 747? Will they crash righ away in this situation or do they have some kinds of safety features? |
Question: Can a US citizen in the US buy something like an Apache or something? Posted: 03 Sep 2015 04:02 AM PDT I saw that someone bought a rocket launcher and tanks with a class license and some paper work. If you are a billionaire and do all the complicating paper work, can you buy an armed helicopter? If Boeing refuses to sell an Apache to a civilian, can he import something like a Tiger, Rooivalk or Mi-35 if the foreign company agrees to export one to you? |
Posted: 02 Sep 2015 04:39 PM PDT I know a couple of pilots who have claimed to, I have my doubts. There are some considerable difficulties in relation to the available space, even using my imagination. Might be easier in an Airbus with a side-stick. None the less, in any aircraft it would be a highly irresponsible thing to attempt and I doubt that the percentage of pilots who have done so is very high at all, you are not putting your job on the line, you are putting your life and that of your partner in crime on the line. Far better to hunker down in a nice stable bed, a remote beach, the back of your Holden FJ, or for that matter, anywhere! |
Question: Can a technical sergeant become a jet fighter pilot? Posted: 02 Sep 2015 04:28 PM PDT Some air forces have (or had) non-commissioned officers-pilots - Sergeant pilots - The RAF was one - "Jet fighter again" - Don't you think they could fly other types too...? |
