Posted: 18 Sep 2015 11:27 AM PDT I would not recommend doing this. What would happen is you will accelerate much faster because the RPM is already very high. You might even lose traction and burn some rubber on the tires. A lot of fun, sure, but you'll be putting undue strain on your drive train. What it does it puts an immediate load on your transmission. It's not likely to break if you do this once or twice, but it could eventually. Either way, it's putting extra wear and tear on the vehicle and something will fail much sooner than anticipated. Transmissions are expensive and I wouldn't recommend anyone do anything that might speed along the need to replace or rebuild one. |

Question: Most reliable Certified used German car? (Choose from list)? Posted: 18 Sep 2015 08:43 AM PDT That's like asking which of three shades of beige is the most attractive. All three models have far worse than average reliability according to almost any industry standard reliability survey based upon warranty claims. Have a look at the JD Powers survey as one example. There will be an order to that list, but the differences will be small. Make sure that you don't rely on any of the "certified used" nonsense. Check the servicing histories on each car to ensure they've all been serviced at the right time and mileage intervals and look at the former ownership records. Check that the one or two service stamps they should all have are matched by supporting invoices. If you then decide on one car, get it professionally inspected by your own vehicle examiner. It's not unusual to find that cars like those have already had major accident repairs. Of the three, the Mercedes is likely to have the worst reputation, closely followed by the BMW with the Audi a shade behind. But Audi is just VW (also horribly unreliable, usually due to shonky electrics) so parts prices are usually a shade cheaper and more widely available. You can also often find identical components in SEAT or Skoda packaging at a lower price. |
