Question: Is it weird not to use your "emergency brake" when you are on level ground? Posted: 06 Sep 2015 11:52 PM PDT I seems like everyone I know pulls the emergency brake, then turns off the car, and leave. I never unless im on a hill. What about you? I am fairly sure that the instructor never said to do this on the driving test. But that was a year ago at least. |

Question: When can I start driving? Posted: 06 Sep 2015 10:12 PM PDT https://www.dmv.ca.gov/portal/dmv/?1dmy&... You can start driving a car on the streets on 2/1/16. You will have licensed adult riding beside you. On 8/1/16 you can get your license, and will have restrictions for the next year... mainly you can't take your girlfriend on a date without an adult with you. Once you get your certificate from Driver's Training you can get a motorcycle permit. Six month after that you can get your motorcycle license and your girlfriend can ride with you. Parents will accept a 150cc scooter will they may not accept a "real" motorcycle. Once you |

Question: Just moved to big city, questions about parking...? Posted: 06 Sep 2015 11:16 AM PDT Signs are serious and cars do get towed. In theory, if they see you park in the Home Depot lot and immediately cross the street, they'll know you are not a customer and could have the car towed. They usually don't watch that carefully. But if it gets obvious that cars are being left there for hours, they will (may) do something about it. Also, some places, especially with garages, with ask to see your receipt when you try to drive away, and will make you pay money if you just parked there and weren't a customer. |
Question: What causes uncontrollable acceleration accidents in cars? Posted: 05 Sep 2015 11:29 PM PDT Bunch of pretty good answers. I had a floor mat bunch up and jam the gas pedal once... I stood on the brake, put the car into neutral, and pulled off the road. No big deal. (Mostly, I drive a stick; putting the car into neutral comes naturally.) Think about it in advance, and figure out what to do. If you drive a car with an automatic transmission, figure out how to move the shifter from "Drive" to "Neutral", without risking "Reverse". There's an interlock; don't push the button, or don't move the shifter sideways, and you can't go into "Reverse". Know what to do, and you'll be ready in the (unlikely) case of a stuck accelerator. |
