Posted: 23 Dec 2015 04:42 PM PST If the car is still under warranty I'd take it in to the dealership for inspection. How many miles are on the engine? Excessive oil consumption can be due to a variety of factors. Are you using the manufacture recommended oil brand and weight? How many miles, months or years do you go between oil changes? How much oil is it consuming between changes? Does it go through a quart between fuel fill ups? Certain cars are known to consume excessive oil due to design. The Audi B6 S4 V8 engines consume a lot of oil. So did the Porsche 928GTS engines, about a quart or two every 3,000 miles. On the other hand I had a piston let go in an Benz engine and it started consuming a great deal of oil, the fix for that was rebuilding or replacing the engine. So, clearly you aren't going to be fixing or even diagnosing this problem yourself, you simply do not know enough about cars. Get it to the dealership if it's under warranty or to an independent reputable repair shop that specializes in Mini's if it isn't and get it diagnosed. First they should pull the spark plugs to see if they are wet with oil or otherwise fouled and continue from there. P.S. If oil is going out the tailpipe, it's also busy fouling up your catalytic converters and those aren't cheap either. |
