Question: Do I need any thing else to implement this subwoofer? Posted: 19 Aug 2015 06:02 AM PDT I am currently restoring a 1968 Mustang Coupe and I would like to upgrade the audio system a little bit so, I decided I want a subwoofer. The head unit is this... http://www.cjponyparts.com/custom-auto-s... I have two of these rear speakers... http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_8792... This one speaker in the dash... http://www.cjponyparts.com/ken-harrison-... This is the subwoofer I'm looking at... http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0082YUR7M/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?qid=1439986238&sr=8-2&pi=AC_SX200_QL40&keywords=powered+car+subwoofer&dpPl=1&dpID=41jdGaUckzL&ref=plSrch The speakers already work fine with the head unit, but my question is if there is anything else I need to make this work with the sub? Thanks! |

Question: Should I get a subwoofer for my car? Posted: 18 Aug 2015 10:11 PM PDT Yes, a sub is design to produce the low end output, the bass. The stock speakers in cars are very poor quality. It will give you decent sound quality. If you want to improve the sound quality, you will need to invest into some aftermarket speakers. It's pretty common to run a pair of aftermarket speakers off the stock head unit. But just don't expect it to get loud on a stock head unit. Most aftermarket speakers need at lease 50 watts RMS to perform reasonably well and loud. For starters, replacing the stock head unit isn't necessary. Unless you prefer something that the stock head unit doesn't have. Like maybe the AUX or Bluetooth. One good 12" sub in the proper enclosure will be loud enough to satisfy anybody that's not a bass head. If you're a bass head and want something bigger and louder, go with a single 15" sub. When it comes to adding a subwoofer in your car, the enclosure will play a big role in sound quality. The enclosure and installation is the most important factor. To get the most output, the enclosure needs to be properly optimize for the type of sub you have. The next thing is the amplifier. Choosing the correct amplifier for your sub is a must. There are several types of car amplifiers. There are monoblocks, 2 channels, 3 channels, 4 channels, 5 channels, etc. The 2 - 5 channel amps are for the mids and highs. It can also be used to run a subwoofer. A monoblock amp should NEVER be used to run a pair of mids and highs. |
Question: What amp would i use for my subwoofer setup? Posted: 18 Aug 2015 08:37 PM PDT You fail to provide us the impedance configuration of the sub. All we know is that you have a Solo Baric l7 12 and a diamond sub. Peak power is meaningless, the Solo Baric l7 12 is 750 watts RMS. So we absolutely have no idea what type of amp you need. More information is needed, providing us a model number of your sub would be the best thing. |
