Posted: 28 Aug 2015 06:49 PM PDT You'll be better off if the airbags deploy. Airbags were invented to serve as a "passive restraint" that would still work if the occupants were not belted in. Of course, you're better off if you have both. |
Question: How/where to look behind me while driving to get over to other lane? Posted: 28 Aug 2015 05:41 PM PDT There is only one small blind spot that you can't see from your mirrors So check your mirrors first. If you see a car in them, then obviously it's not safe to change. Then you just need to glance over your shoulder and see if there is a car beside and slightly behind you. That's the spot your mirrors don't show. You don't need to stare out the window, just a check that there's nothing there. Also, slowing down to change lanes is a bad idea. That means cars are going to be coming up INTO that blind spot. If you go slightly faster, you can see the cars ahead easily, and judge your gaps better. |

Question: I'm a bad driver. How do I improve? Posted: 28 Aug 2015 12:29 PM PDT I'm 18 years old, I just got my license a few months ago and have been driving since I was 16. I'm a bad driver. I've gotten into two accidents so far. When I still had my permit I reversed into a parked car, I told myself I would never embarrass myself like that again. A few weeks after I got my license I was driving with some friends in the car and I rear ended the car in front of me trying to change lanes. I was so embarrassed I almost cried while exchanging info with the other driver. Our insurance went up and I feel so bad. Since I was a kid I always thought I would be a good driver and never get into an accident. My friends always tell me about how bad of a driver I am and how it's a shame that I drive a nice car. I can't help but just agree with them, but honestly it hurts when they do laugh at me and I start to get really sad. In general I'm just a really nervous person. Sometimes something will happen on the road and I'll start shaking because I get so nervous easily and I'm more prone to making a mistake. My dad says I'm a good driver but he's never seen how nervous I can get when I'm behind the wheel. How do I become a better driver? I want my friends and any passengers in the car to know that it's safe when I'm driving. thanks |
