It is a 3-4 day ride.
You do not need to get a room Every night. It is uncomfortable to spend all your time in just one chair.
You can socialize with people from around the world or stare at your thing the entire journey.

German trains are much nicer.
TGV is very nice for crossing France.

Question: Do intermodal trains usually travel long distances before detaching?

We have a few inter-modal trains that originate in Chicago, which is part of my territory. These trains are commonly called Z trains or Priority UPS trains. If these trains are late, even a minute late, they pretty much get the train for free.A few common type of Z trains are the Z-CHCDEN. This trains originates in Cicero, Illinois and ends in Denver, Colorado.Another type of train is the Z-CHISTO. This train starts in Willowsprings, Illinois and ends in Stockton, California. Z LACCHI. Las Angeles to Chicago.

There's numerous other ones too that run on my territory. The longest running one would the the LACNYC. Los Angles all the way to New York City.
