Full disclosure - I drive a minivan, and in my man-van I have a high output sound system with a loud and low subwoofer. I CAN piss off all my neighbors if i want to, but generally I choose not to. I USUALLY turn it down a little bit when I'm stopped, or in a residential area.

That being said -- in a lot of cases, loud bass IS more about attention than anything. For generally young, generally poor people loud stereos are a lot like loud Harley's for generally old, comparatively wealthy people.
It's just what they like to do and it gets them noticed, good or bad.

Obviously I'll need to wire it to the car's electrical system or use an inverter. If I can find one that is close enough to the cigarette lighter's power, I'll connect it to that. I have no idea how to combine this setup with the head unit, so they will be independent.</p><p>What I'm worried about is possible interference. Will I need to install diodes or something to prevent one system from messing up the other?
