Question: Is collision/comprehensive deductibles needed for a 2005 Toyota Corolla LE? Posted: 25 Oct 2015 07:21 AM PDT I'm looking into changing my insurance because my current one keeps upping my rate by $100 a year (no tickets or accidents). I was wondering if the collision/comprehensive deductibles are needed. My current policy has me at $1000/$1000. Note: The engine runs great. The body a little beat up from road rocks hitting it. I do the 3000 mile oil changes, safety checks, major maintenance inspections, etc. Mileage is around 99,000. Mahalo, appreciate any advice you can give me. |

Question: Is there insurance i can buy to cover a leas vehicle if i die? Posted: 25 Oct 2015 05:41 AM PDT Yes, life insurance. Dealers often sell "credit" insurance but it's essentially expensive life insurance that they make a big profit on. Buy simple term insurance, not whole life. UPDATE: Am0S is wrong. Death doesn't cancel a lease or any other financial debt. The executor of the deceased is responsible for paying off any debts of the deceased, including a car lease. Even if the car is returned and sold at auction, there will almost certainly still be a balance that must be paid. The family of the deceased may choose to keep the car and keeping paying for it, with the lease finance company's permission and help. |
Question: About the compensating income from insurance compay? Posted: 25 Oct 2015 12:27 AM PDT Most likely if you press the matter, your personal insurance may not cover ANYTHING because you were operating as a business, and your insurance only covers you while operating for personal use, unless you bought the proper commercial insurance. Your income is produced by performing pickup and deliveries. If you don't perform those duties, you don't get paid. While you're not driving, you're not entitled to that pay - it isn't a salary, nor a guaranteed income. You're not paid by the hour nor by the week or month based on a preset sale. Most insurance doesn't pay for lost income anyway. Unless yours has that provision, which is unlikely, you're not going to see any lost income compensated for by insurance. If you want to know for sure, examine your policy, read what it spells out in writing. After that, have a talk with your insurance broker or agent to answer any remaining questions. Personally, I would not mention your "work", as it may cause you to loose all of your coverage, and receive no payments at all. |
