Okay so I've already started a deal to get a new vehicle and I can't trade in my old one because the title is missing.

The dealer that gave me the original car went out of business and I can't contact them. I have no time to file with the DMV to have the lien removed and the title put in my name.

So I plan to sell it to a kid on Craigslist. Its a junker car however it is a 4x4 and I know someone could get good use out of it. The tags on it expire this December as I haven't renewed them.

So my question is, with all this in mind, can I literally just hand the keys to someone who gives me the right price for the car ? Will they be able to get new tags for it without the title? (Which I didn't even have in the first place when I registered it) or would I be better off selling it for parts?
