Question: 8 ohm or 4 ohm speakers? Posted: 25 Oct 2015 11:11 PM PDT My 4 ch. amplifier will do 100 wrms/ch at 4 ohms. It'll do 175 wrms/ch bridged at 4 ohms. I either can buy 4 ohm speakers and run my amp in 4 ch mode which will feed them 100 per spkr Or Buy 8 ohm speakers, and run in parallel. Bridge amp and send them nearly 200 watts Btw I'll be wiring in some 4 ohm tweets too, parallel. And these are home audio speakers (silver flute) and they will be going in car. I just don't know what orientation to wire. They carry 8 ohm versions so...? Just don't see why not. No processor involved so this is all stereo imaging. Shouldn't make a difference if my left channel includes both back left and front left speaker |

Question: How do you hook up external amplifiers? Posted: 25 Oct 2015 09:22 PM PDT You would have to trace those wires and see where they lead. They may be front speaker wires, maybe rear, maybe nothing is connected at the other end. You'll need to run a power wire from the battery, probably 8 awg. Ground wire from the amp to the chassis, same awg. Signal (rca) wires from the HU to the amp. If you still have the stock radio you may need a line output converter to get rca outputs for the amp. There's also the remote turn on lead. Easy if it's aftermarket. Harder if it's stock. |

Question: Can you port and tune an organic subwoofer box? Posted: 25 Oct 2015 07:43 PM PDT Ported boxes providing "deeper" bass isn't true. A ported box CAN be deeper if it is tuned correctly and the sub works well in a ported box. But the box is tuned relatively high it won't go as low as a good sub in the correct size sealed box. Ported boxes are usually a little louder than sealed, but louder and lower (deeper) are not the same thing. Typically sealed boxes are fairly small and do not have the space necessary to be ported and maintain good performance. |
