My sister got in a really bad accident last night.
During a turn she miscalculated and ended up flipping in a really deep creek; hitting the front and right side of the vehicle. She's mostly fine, thank goodness, but the problem we're also concerned with is that the airbags NEVER deployed. This was a very strong impact. The cops, paramedics, and everyone else on the scene were shocked to hear and see they never worked.
She wore her seat belt, but it didn't stop her from hitting her face and head against the steering wheel. There were many other injuries that should've been avoided WITH the airbag.
My question is, is there a certain reason why the airbags didn't work? Or was it just faulty?

I'm not entirely sure of the year, either a 2013 or 2014 Jeep that was brand new once bought two years ago. Wrangler, two door.
