Question: Can I wire an amp/subs off my rear deck with a LOC? Posted: 29 Oct 2015 09:18 PM PDT It's called a pre-out, not an input. An RCA pre-out is used to drive an amplifier's low level RCA input. A stock head unit doesn't have RCA pre-outs. So you're going to need a LOC. Absolutely, that's a common place where LOC's are typically installed. Those other people have no idea what they're talking about. Just make sure you wire the polarity of the LOC to the rear deck speakers properly. If not, it will be out of phase which will affect the sound quality. Most newer cars will have a low level RCA pre-out located inside the trunk for an amplifier installation. I think that's pretty cool. It saves you money on LOC's and you don't have to run an RCA wire from the head unit to the amplifier. |
