Posted: 25 Mar 2015 09:06 PM PDT This happens for a variety of reasons. Go to DMV web site to see if they instruct you what to do. Policy may vary by state, what state is this in? You may need to send this company a letter stating "Contact me. I want to pay off my title loan". From there I am not sure if they will ask you to get a bond for the balance left on the loan, or have you pay them, then they hold those funds in case lien holder shows up. Check with a larger/main DMV office. |
Posted: 25 Mar 2015 08:38 PM PDT Sure, you can do something about it. You can understand the legal documents you're signing BEFORE you sign them. The time to ask questions is BEFORE you sign, not after. What you are more than likely looking at is the total amount of the finance contract including all interest and fees. That isn't the total amount you paid for the car. That's the total amount you paid for the car plus the cost added on for borrowing the money. Interest is the cost you pay for the ability to borrow money. What you're seeing is the total cost of the contract. |
