Question: Australia fuel prices went up despite oil staying at $42 per barrel? Posted: 22 Mar 2015 02:15 PM PDT Before the oil per barrel prices plummeted late last year(2014) , the fuel prices in australia were approx $1.40 per litre (on average). Then globally the oil prices dropped approx 40-60% and in Australia we saw fuel prices at $1/litre. Slowly though since, the price has creeped up to $1.30/litre now despite oil being at $42 per barrel. Does anybody know why this is the case? I have tried looking up on google for an answer but no one has it. I know US dollar is going up vs the aussie dollar. From what I have read, that is meant to keep fuel prices lower not higher. Unless australia is buying in US dollars? Thanks in advance ! |
