Question: Atomik 250cc kickstart problem? Posted: 28 Mar 2015 12:32 AM PDT Hey there, I have an Atomik 250cc (unknown model and year) that has problems kickstarting, when I try to kick the lever down, it pulls the starter motor chain. (the starter motors wiring has been removed so I cant use it) Instead of being easy to kick, its impossible to kick at a good speed and I can hear the chain inside the starter motor moving. Does anyone know what I should do? Im thinking of taking the chain out but im not sure if this will cause problems or not. The bike has compression, spark, the carby is fine etc. I know the problem is with the starter motor. I should add that sometimes when I kick the lever it doesnt pull the chain, and I can hear the engine trying to fire, but then I kick it a second time and it pulls the chain again. |

Question: What should I get as my first sport bike? Posted: 27 Mar 2015 08:46 PM PDT Young, dirt bike experience, want something to have fun riding, so what should I pick? Difference in cbr and ninja? Leap from a 250 to a 500? Any 600/650s on the tamer side? I'm a young guy, 18. I respect motorcycles and other vehicles I've been on in the past. My experience is off-road riding, an oldish crf200, so I understand the throttle and of course the other controls, brakes and shifting. I plan on riding as a commuter about half the time because I'm going to be also using a vehicle that isn't as good on gas. Eventually I want to go on trips with my bike whether I up grade later or learn on a capable bike. So my budget isnt too high but I do find some cheap bikes on Craigslist that are fairly good condition. The two obvious choices are cbr 250s and ninja 250s. Have yet to find any 300s and found one ninja 500 that was maintained. So out the 250s is the main difference the cbr has handling/weight/fuel injected and the ninja not fuel injected/more horsepower? How much of a leap is a 500? Any 600/650s that don't have as much low gear initial torque or whatever would make turning and handling easier than others in the category? |
