Question: What kind of car amplifier do I need? Posted: 29 Mar 2015 09:59 PM PDT P2's are 400w rms each, not 600. P3's are 600. The D4's wired for 1 ohm would be overpowered by 33%. You would need to be very careful in adjusting the amp (gain low, no bass boost) to keep them fairly happy. If you got the d2's you'd be wiring for 2 ohms getting 400w per sub -- that would be ideal. The need for electrical system modification is dependent on the car you're driving. If it's an economy car or older car its not likely to have a very strong alternator. If that's the case, the only real solution is to upgrade the alternator with something that produces more current. Capacitors are of very little value. They are band-aids, and not very good ones. A good battery is helpful, but again, w/o an adequate alternator it would only buy you a little time. |
