Question: Railway lines and trespassers? UK? Posted: 30 Mar 2015 10:59 AM PDT Are you referring to disobeying the stop lights at level crossings, or to using a level crossing as a means of access to go walking on the track? If the crossing lights are flashing and you ignore them and go onto the track. you stand a very good chance of being struck by a train. The lights only flash when a train is coming. If you go onto the tracks either via a crossing or any other way such as climbing a fence, your chance of getting caught or coming to harm vary on different lines. If the line has 3rd rail electrrification, you may get electrocuted. You might be hit by a train. Some railway lines do have trains moving at 02:00 and 03:00. There is a lot of overnight freight and some overnight sleeper passenger trains. You might be spotted by a security system or patrol placed to catch people trying to steal valuable lineside cables or electrical equipment, and might get arrested as a suspected thief. If the railway has suffered from vandalism in the area, there may also be patrols or security systems for that reason. A lot of railway repair and maintainence work is done at night and you may encounter track workers. |
Question: How to find out where freight lines go? Posted: 29 Mar 2015 08:34 AM PDT WHY do you meed to know.? The crews know where to go and how to get there. The train track routes can be found on a railmap. You DO NOT need to know where a particular freight train is going. |
