What do i do in a car accident at age 17?

Alright so, in the mids of october me an a couple of friends were going "home" on a saturday night , around 10pm we got in a car crash. I was going the speed limit and we were approching an intersection in which my light was green. The guy who was going to make a left turn at the light had the green light also but did not have the green arrow. He did not yield to me and he got in my way thus causing a pretty bad car accident. Cops came ask for my insurence n i had a driving permit at the time. My truck was in pretty bad damage, the other guys car was even worse lol but it was his fault. Well i was in shock being it was my 1st car accident at age 16, that i forgot to ask for the other guys insurence. So i called the police station about 3-4days after the car accident, but i guess the report had not been done yet. This was not your ordanary fender bender this was a pretty bad car accident. Well after that i decided to work hard to fix my dads truck and the bill came up to almost 3k. Now all i want to know is can i still do something about this or is it to late. We have pictures of the vehicle and receits for the parts we bought to fix the truck. The guy never called my insurence , and my insurence did not cover my accident because we do not have full covarage. I just hoping i could get some money back from what i spent. Ps. Sorry for typing alot

If that is the case then DO NOT accept his offer to be named on his insurnace.It would not be valid unless you were part of his company. Insurance companys do not like anything that smells, even slightly, of a fraud.</p><p>You can't be added to anybody else's policy unless they are also covered for your car. That is also nonsense.</p><p>The fact is that you have no driving record, so the insurance company does not know whether you are a careful safe driver or a reckless idiot (unfortunately too many teenager drivers are reckless idiots, which is why the insurance premiums are so high).</p><p>Whoever bought you the car should have considered this: the fact that you have to pay the running costs - which includes insurance as well as maintenance and fuel should have been blindingly obvious to everybody concerned. Why not ask them for a loan to cover your premium?</p><p>There is no real benefit to you in trying to get insurance "on the cheap". If you got stopped by police, or actually had an accident, it would be too late to discover that you were not properly covered. You could face criminal charges and, if the claim is high enough, bankruptcy.</p><p>But by having your own insurance you can build up a record of good driving (no claims) and in time your premium costs will go down. If you are just a "named driver" on someone else's policy you will not build up any sort of record to your personal credit and when you do eventually take a policy in your own name it will be as a
