Question: Why, inside the largest airliners like A380, 747 and 777, there are no McDonalds, Subway or Starbucks?

Yes, and why isn't Buddy the Elf standing by the door when you're boarding the plane, handing out candy canes?

What are you, 4?

Why on earth would there be any sort of restaurant etc. inside a plane? It's not a cruise ship where people spend a week or two at a time. Most flights are under six hours, so you barely get one meal, and the airline is quite capable of supplying that through a tried and tested catering system.

Seriously...

Question: Which fuel is easier to get at small airports in the US, jet fuel or avigas?

If a place is big enough to be called an airport, they would have jet fuel supplies.

All small commuter airliners, most helicopters and things like air ambulance / skydive planes are mostly gas turbine (jet) engine now.

Smaller private or club "air fields" may be avgas only

Question: Why private jet instead of turboprop?

A private airplane can be a jet airplane, or a turboprop -
Small ones often carry same number of passengers - example 6 passengers -
But jets are faster, they fly average 450-500 mph, turboprops only go 250-300 mph -

And jets are often more expensive and require 2 pilots, some turboprops do ok with 1 pilot -

And I know some turboprops that are actually faster than jets -
I recall the Mitsubishi MU-2 was fast as a Citation CE-500 -

Question: Do ordinary Americans know what regional first officer means?

Posted: 29 Sep 2016 04:05 PM PDT

I started with Pan Am as flight engineer -
Then 2 years later upgraded as first officer -
Then 8 years later became captain -
To me, and most pilots - it was easier to say "I am a pilot with (airline name)" -

To people, captains, first officers or flight engineers are all pilots - they "drive" airplanes -

The American public (and most other people) have no idea what the "ranks or titles" are -
If you insist so much your title to be known as "First Officer", print it on your business card -

If you think that people know what "check captain" or "training captain" besides first officers are...!
I used to say pilot-instructor to people, they (almost) understood that...!

These guys are all "PILOTS" -
And people insist they are commercial airline pilots (are there non-commercial airlines?) -

Right now you are Anonymous Blue Face, with no airline, not even a pilot -
So, maybe you are a Troll Captain...?
