used for?</p>    <p>I know the wires directly above the tracks are for electric trains, but what about the wires on top of the poles on each side of the railroad? I notices while riding in a car in Newark, going north, the wires get gradually taller, then they curve away from the railroad and go to what looks like a power station. Where do they lead in the other direction? What purpose do they serve?
