Question: Do people still use locomotives? Posted: 23 Sep 2016 10:44 AM PDT Yes, in most extreme altitude situations. Internal combustion engines (gas and diesel) don't do well at high altitudes. Steam engines are relatively unaffected by altitude. So there are surviving steam trains for practical purposes, and for tourist and heritage purposes. |
