Two days ago I had an appointment somewhere quite far (1 hour 30 minutes away) and I don't usually go on trains so I put money on my Oyster card thinking it would be enough. On my way home, I realised I had no money left on my card. I spoke to the people at the station an explained the situation to them and they said that I could go on the train because there was no other way I could get home and I had no money on me, one even tried to call the people at the destination I was getting off to and explain but they didn't answer. So I went on the train, got off at my stop and there was an inspector standing there. He checked my oyster and found out I had travelled with no money on my oyster. I explained him everything and he just took down my name, address, bank card details and made me sign something (I don't know what i signed was because I was in floods of tears and asking wasn't even on my mind at that time). He didn't say much apart from that I have to pay £20 within 10-14 days and that I could appeal, then I just went home. Now I'm really scared and my anxiety level is through the roof. I've always hated getting in trouble even at school. How will this affect me? What did he make me sign? Will I go to court? Will I have a criminal record?
