| Question: What would be the price range to buy/install decent subwoofers for a sedan? Posted: 19 Sep 2016 11:13 PM PDT (A) Define "decent". It's a very subjective term. Decent to you may seem like garbage to someone else. It would be better if you just told us what your budget is. (B) Why do you think you need more than one subwoofer? Unlike full-range speakers where you can clearly hear two channels, not so with a subwoofer. At low frequencies the ear cannot detect directionality so one sub is all that is really needed. (C) Installation costs vary greatly so it depends on where you live. Where I'm at you cannot get anyone to do car audio work for less than $80 an hour. It may be more or less where you live. Depending on what you have installed, the labor could be anywhere from one to three hours. (D) The easiest thing to install is an active (powered) subwoofer that comes in a cabinet with an integral amplifier. This reduces installation cost since all that needs to be installed besides the box is some wiring. A passive subwoofer will require a separate amplifier to be installed. (E) If you have a stock radio/cd player I guarantee that even a small sub is going to overpower your other speakers. For balanced sound it is recommended that you upgrade your stock speakers and amplify them. (F) In fact, many people will recommend that you install an amplifier and upgrade your other speakers first and install at least two that have excellent bass performance. With a good system you may discover that you really have no need for any subs. (G) You can go here and window-shop till your heart's content: http://www.crutchfield.com/car/carselector.aspx |

| Question: Why are the aux ports in the back of the radio? Posted: 19 Sep 2016 05:21 PM PDT (A) I guess it didn't occur to you that the aux ports are often on the back so that you can run an aux cord to virtually anywhere in your vehicle and install a jack, just like on a vehicle that comes with aux ports installed in the dash, consoles or glove box. (B) Lots of radios come with aux ports and USB ports on the faceplate. You obviously have not looked very hard. Try here: http://www.crutchfield.com/car/carselector.aspx |
