Question: How is someone pronounced dead at the scene of a car accident? Posted: 20 Sep 2016 01:47 PM PDT Ambulance is equipped with all the basic gear they have in an emergency room. Monitors, defibrillator, oxygen, and emergency treatment drugs. Their job is to stabilise you, control bleeding, IV fluids and drugs and oxygen as needed. They wont transport you until you are stable enough to survive the trip, unless they have no other option. They will do this in the vehicle, on the road, or in the back of the ambulance depending on how the scene is. Like if you are bleeding AND they suspect back injuries they would give you first aid in the vehicle while the fire crew dismantle it enough to get you out without aggravating your spinal injuries. If your heart has stopped after a traumatic injury, chances are you aren't coming back. In that case your heart stopped because of major internal injuries, and zapping it ain't going to fix the torn aorta and broken neck. They work for drowning, electrocution or medical issues where your body is mostly intact and undamaged and there is a chance of jump starting you again. If you have driven into a brick wall @80mph and your internal organs are minced, game over. |
