Question: Is he really disabled? Posted: 22 Sep 2016 07:47 PM PDT He may be weird but he probably has arthritic knees, a major problem with overweight older people. My wife is getting her second knee replaced soon but walks okay, just a bit slowly. You could outrun her hopping on one foot - no kidding. I think he is just friendly, a way of compensating when one has characteristics that often cause people to shy away from them (like obesity). Bicycling is often a recommended exercise for people with arthritic knees - low pressure, non impact. |
Posted: 22 Sep 2016 05:49 PM PDT All of your choices are good if you have her start with a nice used one and step-up from there. Depending on your wife's 'get-up-go' the 125's might be a better starter but until she rides it's hard to say. Have her go 'shopping' to see how she fits on the different models, some 'feel' better than others and that is a good place to start- comfort level. |
Posted: 22 Sep 2016 05:18 PM PDT Let me skip strait to the question and if you want you can read the rest afterwards. I'm looking at getting a 2000 Suzuki RM 250. It fits my price range just about perfect. The only problem is, I don't know any of it's common problems or if it's too old, hard to work on, and hard to find parts for. Now for the rest. My uncle (a mechanical genius like Candid Chris) told me to get a 2004 - 2008 Suzuki RM 250 or YZ 250. Now I know most of the bikers on here are four stroke people, so please don't say four strokes all the way on here or something like that. Believe me, I love fourstrokes. I just think 2 strokes are better trail/enduro bikes. I'm currently looking at getting an 04/05 Honda TRX 450R with the fixed crankshaft bearings. Now you might be thinking "isn't this a question about an RM?" It is. But I have a "plan." I want to get a bike I can take on the trails up at my uncles mountain property (200+ acres). I know they don't have many ATV trails, so I need a dirt bike to go up there. My main trail bike as of right now is a 2002 KDX 220R and it's extremely under powered. So I plan on selling that and my 125 to get these two vehicles. After I get the TRX I should have around $1000 - $1200 and will get a little extra money before and after I sell the bikes, which could take a few months. And one more thing. If you happen to know a better bike (don't joke around and say a kx/cr 500), please do mention it. I just need it to be at a low price. Thank you. |
