Question: My license is in jeopardy? Posted: 22 Sep 2016 06:39 AM PDT How is your mom getting your keys? You are putting many things in jeopardy if you continue to allow her to drive the car. Whether the car is insured or not, she still should not be driving. If she is found driving, she will be in legal trouble and your car will be impounded and you will likely lose it. If she gets in an accident, the insurance will not cover the damages to either car because she is not legally supposed to be driving. If the car is not insured, neither of you should be driving it. If either of you are caught driving without insurance the car can be impounded. You can lose your license for up to a year. You will also owe hundreds in court fines and fees. If you are in an accident while not insured, the penalties are even steeper. Get insurance, even if you just have to get the absolute minimum coverage, or stop driving, period. If you cant afford insurance, you shouldnt have a car. Once you get insurance, stop letting your mother drive, period. |
Posted: 22 Sep 2016 12:43 AM PDT http://www.dmv.org/az-arizona/buy-sell/s... Per the DMV site, you are supposed to remove the plate. If the vehicle is being towed, it does NOT need a plate, since not driven. Did you get the signature notarized? You need a release of liability form completed which shows no longer the owner (in case) buyer does not transfer title into their name. So, if not taken yet, take plate off, make sure notarized etc. |
Posted: 21 Sep 2016 11:15 PM PDT Do you live with Grandpa? If so, then you need to be added to his insurance as a listed driver. But, if you don't live with Grandpa and just happen to use his car, then no, since you got the ticket, should not increase his rates. The citation will be on your record and any insurance you are on, will then rate you higher due to this ticket. Yes, they want proof of insurance and registration, and if none, then would get more tickets. But since is, only owe for the citation. |
Question: Reducing my insurance price? Posted: 21 Sep 2016 10:53 PM PDT Any rate increase is done at renewals. Right now, since just got the ticket, may not show on your license, thus the rate maybe based on NO ticket? Some times can take driving class and then they remove the ticket from your record. Have you checked into that?: If living at home, "may" not need to transfer car into their name, since like you stated, YOU would be the main driver, thus rated on the policy. Many companies give "multi" policy discounts of anywhere from 10% to 30 %, if your insure multiple vehicles with the company and also their homeowners insurance. They do this since they want ALL the business vs you having one company for one, and they split out with other insurance companies. When I transferred my car insurance to my husbands insurance that insured both his car and our home, my insurance went from $1,200 per year to $600, "multi" policy discount for all. |
