Question: Who do I give my train ticket to at the buena park train station?

No one at the station. You must bring it onto the train with you.

If it's a Metrolink train, you give it to no one. You must hold onto the ticket, yourself, for the entire trip. Sometimes, between stations, someone will come by and ask for tickets, and you show it to the person, but you keep it. Usually, no one will ask to see it (they check maybe 1/10th of the train). However, if they do ask, and you don't have a ticket, the fine is several hundred dollars.

If it's an Amtrak train, you give it to one of the conductors, but not until after you get on the train and it leaves the station. And you don't have to look for them. Just get on the train and take a seat. Eventually, they will come by and ask for it.

On your return trip, when you get on a train at L.A. Union Station, you may have to show the ticket before you get on the train. But you don't have to find the person. It would be someone at the door to the train or stopping everyone on the platform.
