Question: Which aircraft should I pick for my CPL training and ratings? Posted: 15 Apr 2015 03:12 PM PDT I would suggest that you use a C172, preferably one you can fly cheaply. The C152 is a bit light on performance and a bit cramped for serious instrument flying. There is nothing to stop you occasionally flying something cool, but where you have mandatory requirements, it is better to do these as cheaply as you can, in a correctly equipped aircraft that is as conventional as possible |
Question: Can you get gyrocopter piloting training? How much? Posted: 15 Apr 2015 01:55 PM PDT Obviously you can, but since you don't say where you are, we have no idea where YOU can get it, or whether you will be paying in Dollars, Pounds, Euro, Lakhs, Renimbi, or Dong. Look up someone like Arrow-Copter or Autogyro, their local agent will be able to tell you anything you want to know |
Question: How long do a commercial plane last for as years? Posted: 15 Apr 2015 01:36 PM PDT To an extent, it depends on what comes along to replace it. Aircraft like B747s can have a service life of 25 years and upwards, although it depends on how they are maintained. However, a changing market and the advent of more cost effective aircraft, such as the B777, during the life of the particular airplane can mean that it is more economical to replace the B747, which you can t sell enough seats to fill, with something you can fill and is more economical to operate. In that case, unless an owner can find someone to take the B747 off their hands, they are better to scrap it for parts value, rather than pay the fees to park it and maintain it in mothballed condition. Aircraft leasing companies encourage change, it keeps their money in circulation and earning, so aircraft often don t last as long as they should and the market plays a part, would you rather fly in a brand new Dreamliner than a 25 year old B767? |
Question: Flight School in Nj? Posted: 14 Apr 2015 06:19 PM PDT (1) "A couple grand"? That's what it will cost to solo as a student and you must be age 16 before you can solo. A complete course resulting in a private pilots certificate typically costs around $10,000. If you fly the light sport category of aircraft (2 sears, 1,300# gross weight, or less), a Sport Pilot Certificate will cost about $7,000. You cannot get either license until age 17. (2) What will be taught at your present age? It depends upon your ability. Unless you are physically incapable of it, there is no reason you cannot be taught all maneuvers required to earn a license. In most cases, a simulator won't be used during the early stages of training. And, unless you're willing to spend the extra money needed to fly regularly while stretching the training out over 30 months or more, there's not much point in starting training yet. It's best to wait until you are age 16, or very close to it. (3) Flight schools do not offer financing or have payment payment plans to become a pilot. They charge by the flight hour for the airplane and instructor. For practicality, about the minimum length of a lesson that would be worth your while would be 30 minutes of flying and another 15-30 minutes of additional ground instruction. typical lessons, however, include at least 1 hour of flight plus 30 minutes of ground instruction. |
