| Question: 94 mph in a 65 mph is it considered reckless driving? Posted: 06 Apr 2015 05:32 PM PDT If you had both speeding AND reckless operation, 6 pts, automatic 6 MONTH suspension, not 30 days. You received a warning. Anything more than 20 over is a very large fine and second time in some locations may be automatic reckless operation, requiring an all day remedial driver training class to get your license back after the suspension. Your ticket would state reckless operation, and would also require a visit to court, not a pay out fine if it was reckless operation. |

| Posted: 06 Apr 2015 01:41 PM PDT He may have been driving without a license and insurance himself (a surprising number of motorists are driving illegally.) So he may not have wanted to get involved in an insurance and ID exchange to protect himself from detection and possible fines or even having his car seized. If it happened to me I would contact my car insurance agent and tell him you had a mild run-in with another car but the other driver left the scene before you could speak to them -- if there is not much apparent damage on your own car it could be the bumpers were well matched enough to protect his from any real damage. But as long as your agent knows they will be prepared if the other driver tries to file a claim. This happened years ago to my dad -- almost a year after he had a slight bumper collision with another car that seemed to cause some damage, the driver of that car slapped a lawsuit on Dad claiming that the collision had caused the other driver to have whiplash injury. But when it went to court it turned out the supposed medical records from the guy suing showed the collision allegedly happening a week before it did. Since my dad reported it to his insurance agent right away, the judge threw out the lawsuit against Dad. |
| Question: Accidentally ran stop light? Maybe? Posted: 06 Apr 2015 12:17 PM PDT If you didn't get a ticket at the scene, and you didn't cause an accident, you were lucky. You didn't get caught, no one got hurt. Just don't keep trying your luck. It could be considered reckless operation, not obeying a traffic safety signal. Construction violation is generally only excessive speed in a construction zone, failing to yield to signal person [while directing traffic], or hitting a construction worker, in a construction zone.
