If I still renewed it here, then moved, would the new time carry over to my New York license, or would I have to pay again to start a new 5 years? Is that fair at all?</p><p>Its all about calculated risks according to what other drivers have done. Insurance companies won't give you £400 discounts if they believe the risk is too high, they would rather not have your business than have to pay out £8000 because you crashed into someone. Sure you're 20 for only 2 months, however you will still be 20! Thats still 2 months of "risky" driving according to statistical analysis. If other companies offered you less than £1200 at age 20, then you definitely could negotiate. However if £1200 is the cheapest you can find, then why would the insurance company lower it even more for such a risky category?</p><p>The up side is that insurance prices do change on a monthly, even weekly basis.
