| Question: 30 minute commute on freeway? Posted: 07 Apr 2015 10:10 PM PDT If there is no traffic on the freeway and it takes you 30 minutes to get to the job one way, then rush hour traffic, depending on the severity, could move your commute up to an hour or hour and a half. I know someone who gets up two hours earlier at 5am to drive 30 minutes on the freeway just so they don't have to sit in rush hour traffic. Then, they get off work at 4pm, and get home around 5:30. It's crazy. However, if this is a really good job opportunity, I would still take it. You have to drive a lot, but it's making a living. Maybe that job will help you get a newer car.
