Question: Having problems with my edelbrock carb, need advise? Posted: 01 Nov 2014 03:14 PM PDT having problems with my edelbrock carb, need advise? I have a 1966 chevy with 327 engine. I pulled the engine last year and did a complete rebuild of the top end with cam, sportsman II heads ported and polished, high rise dual plane intake, 650 cfm carb, and changed it over to an HEI distributor, I know I am forgetting to mention a few things I know, but that's the most of it. Well, anyways, I got it set in the truck and running like a top. Well, about 5 months ago the trans went out. So, I parked and and went out about once every 2 weeks and started it. I kept fresh gas in it by toping it off every month. Well, anyways, I got the new trans put in it and now it stumbles when accelerating. It never did that before. So, I thought maybe a vacuum leak around the carb. I checked the gasket and tightened the bolts. Still, no good. Also, I can't adjust it with the idle air mixture screws. I can turn them in or out and it makes absolutely no difference. It is running very rich and I can lean it out because it won't adjust. Is my carb shot? I bought it brand new only a year ago. Why is it already giving trouble? Is it some other issue that I haven't seen? Maybe a intake vacuum leak? I am stumped unless its the carb. |
