Question: Check engine light flashes and car shakes, but if I restart car, problem stops?

Hi, I drive a 2003 Jeep Liberty Sport and this morning when I turned my car on, the check engine light started flashing and car was rumbling. I stopped the car and turned it off, and turned it back on and it did not have the problem. Fast forward a couple hours later when I was done with classes, same thing happened. This happened earlier this year (March?) and I took it to a repair shop and I want to say that it was spark plugs, but I'm not entirely sure. Even if so, would I need to replace spark plugs already? I drive maybe 20 miles total a day, and didn't drive much during the summer, so not a whole lot of wear has been happening. I'm not sure if the weather has anything to do with it since it's freezing in Missouri and last time this happened it was very cold.

Didn't know if anyone had any ideas about why this happened, or specifically why the problem will stop as soon as I restart the car. Thanks in advance.

Question: 2001 Chevy Malibu wont start after running out of gas?

before you do anything else, go back and get 5 gallons of gas in the tank, then turn key on but not start, wait for 15 seconds, turn key off, then start the car, it should start!
