Question: Is 50 miles each way too much to commute to school? Posted: 14 Aug 2016 03:56 PM PDT Premed will require you to do about 200 hours of studying a week. Wait a minute, there are only 168 hours in a week. Still, my analysis is not that far off, at least in principle. If you use all your time commuting (or partying, as some students do) then you will fail to learn your mathematics, chemistry and physics, and might as well not bother trying for medical school. Your dad is on target here. Get living quarters close to school. PS: A physics major at my college, long ago, applied to med school by presenting a notebook in which he had worked all the problems in Goldstein's Classical Mechanics. He sailed right in! |
