the subs are like new, theyre 4 ohm svc wired parallel to 2 ohm, the kicker kx1200.1 says it puts out 600w x 1 channel at 2 ohm. would the subs be ok?

Update: can my new 2 15" kicker comp c's svc 250rms/ 500peak each 4ohm wired parallel to 2 ohm, would they be safe on a kicker kx1200.1 amp , it says the amp does 600watt rms x 1channel at 2 ohms?
are those safe to use together?

Question: How big of a 10" sub can my 2000 suburban handle?

Posted: 16 Aug 2016 09:50 PM PDT

Background:
My mom blew the sub (as well as a couple speakers] in the suburban (burb) before it got have down to me. It was ok at best so I'd like to look into a small upgrade from the factory. All the 6.5" 2-ways have been replaced since then. The radio as well as any and all amps are stock/factory. It does not have the premium Bose sound package (unfortunately).

Question:
How big of a sub will the amp handle? The factory one I know was a 360 watt max, 2-ohm. Whatever I replace it with I know has to be a 2-ohm or dual-coil 4-ohm speaker. So, does anyone know what the max watt soaker the amp(s) can handle in trends of a subwoofer?

Side question:
Is tthere a problem with me upgrading to a 12" as long as it is under the wattage range and has the right resistance? I am aware of the fact that i would have to modify the current box for the sub if I did that.

Thanks

Question: How big of a 10" sub can I get for my 2000 suburban?

My mom blew the sub in my suburban before it got handed down to me so I want to replace the sub. The catch is nobody makes the stock 360 watt 2-ohm 10" subwoofers (anymore?). I wouldn t mind an upgrade but I m on a budget too.

Long story short: what is the factory amp - that s behind the glove box (or stereo amp if that s what powers the sub...have heard from different sites that the radio powers the sub and not the globe-box amp, as well as I ve heard vice-versa) capable of powering - I know I have to have 2-ohm OR dual coil 4-ohm, but any idea on max watts? Also, would there be a problem with a 12" as long as the max watts and resistance are right?

As a side question, I know ohms signify resistance but what makes a dual coil 4-ohm equivalent to a (single coil?) 2-ohm?
