Question: Minimum outboard horsepower to get a 12' aluminum v-hull upriver? Posted: 09 Aug 2016 06:11 PM PDT I recently acquired a 1980 Meyers AL all aluminum 12', and I'm in need of a motor. I'm new to boats, and even newer to motors, so I have no idea what I'm doing. I'm scouring craigslist for something old and used, because I can't afford more than $300, which I know really limits things. A trolling motor is off the table, because I'll be on the Wisconsin River more often than not, and I need to be able to move against the current. So my question is this - What's the minimum horsepower I should be looking for to get my aluminum 12' with two or three passengers against the current? |
