Question: Question about the loan/down payment process for a vehicle...? Posted: 10 Aug 2016 08:02 PM PDT You do not understand how financing works. When you get a loan or ask for a loan, you ask for the amount you need. Not the $20,000 total the car or truck may cost. So yes, if you are putting down $8,000, then you are financing $12,000 and your payments will be smaller. If you are putting down $6,000, then you are financing $14,000. The more money your finance, the more the bank makes from you via interest charges. The longer the term you need to pay back the loan, the more money they make on you. They aren't in business to make your payments small or make the truck more affordable for you. They are in business to sell you some metal and take as much money out of your pocket as possible. Question: What's the maximum car payment I could afford? Posted: 10 Aug 2016 07:07 PM PDT I currently make $2,500/ month. My monthly bills are: Car Note- $275 Total - About $550 If I take out my current car note I have $2,230 left a month. I currently drive a Kia Soul and would like to upgrade to a nicer car or truck, but I'm wondering what would be the max car payment I should go for. Any help on how much of the monthly income the car note shouldn't exceed or anything like that would be great! |
Posted: 10 Aug 2016 06:55 PM PDT I would never buy a car that I had not personally inspected and taken to an independent mechanic for a more thorough inspection. So walk, run or fly to Texas if you want to buy that car. |
