Question: Making a roof for a Porsche Boxster? Posted: 20 Aug 2016 02:13 PM PDT Figure couple hundred bucks to make a mold, couple hundred bucks to rough out a prototype, plus another couple hundred of hardware, plus a couple hundred of basic bodywork, then about a grand of paint and finish bodywork, then about a grand or two for interior, then another grand for custom glass. This all for a cheap diy prototype that will likely leak and kill the value of the car when you mod the body for it to fit. And assuming you have at least built a few fiberglass panels/done at least a few dozen basic body repairs, built some molds, and understand the physical/mechanical properties of the materials involved. |
